Remembrance Day ride 2007

Ally organised a wonderful Sparrow Hill ride on remembrance day, we did the minute silence at 11am and Ally had a funny story.

CCC Criteriums - Round 1

The Story of Round One, Simon has me on the reserves bench for the B grade Masters ACT Cycling team, so I'm wearing last years Bright Lights Electrical to stay incognito for the moment. Anyway, this is me suffering trying the big breakaway to win with a lap and half to go.

Needless to say I was caught, up the back straight as the hill started to bite and my legs started to feel very weary. At least I was there in the end and had enough legs to jump off the front! I'm happy.

Yeah, I crashed. Two guys came down in front of me on the back
straight as we were going hard for the sprint. I could not go up, so I
went down, on the apron, and then a bike went right into my path. I tried
to bunny hop, but could not clear the bike. So I ran over a Teschner,
went over the bars and flew through the air. I bruised my elbow and
hip a little. No major damage. The other guys had heaps of skin off
and splinters from the boards.

ACT Vets Stromlo Crit - Breakaway Success

It was really hot yesterday at the ACT Vets CC Crit race.

I cooked up a breakaway plan with Andrew Sinclair on Saturday after the bakery ride, but he did not turn up! Still, I wanted to be aggressive, planning to get a breakaway going, it worked!

Mark Taylor made the race hard and John Chowns then made a break. I joined him, but it all come back together. John tried again, then I joined him with a few others, but it came back together after a few laps. Then i tried again and Richard Norris, John and Chris came with us, with Chris Nolan putting in some big turns. John and Chris went back to the bunch and I stayed away with Richard. He beat me in the sprint, but I was putting in very hard efforts to stay away. Looks like I'll get dragged to A grade! Bummer.
